Standing On God’s Promises

Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me

When the horizon looks dark, the promises of God to us, His beloved children, are sure! It is only the certainty, the guarantee, of God’s promises coming through for us that keeps us going. We walk through the valleys of the shadow of death. We encounter obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. We face trials and situations that are extremely painful. We face worry, fear, the unknown, times of hopelessness and insecurity. You name it, we face it.

But through it all, we are assured that these troubles and trials are only shadows. By no means are our pains anything to make light of. They are real and they cause us real hurt and pain. But, beloved, we are only walking through the valleys of the SHADOW of death. Our Father and the LORD Jesus Christ, in the person of the Holy Spirit, is right beside us keeping us from all harms. Moreover, we have the abundant life of the joys of the LORD that gives us strength.

We are assured, by our great and awesome God and Father, that we need not fear any evil because, He is with us. Satan has been defeated. He has been judged and cast out of the kingdom of God and we are children of the kingdom of God. Therefore, no evil scheme of the enemy will overwhelm us. Our enemy have no access to us, he is just a shadow, trying to distract us. So let us fix our eyes on Jesus and remove our thoughts from the fears, worries and sufferings we go through. The promises of God are sure. They are yes and amen.

Therefore, beloved and blessed, we do not fear when we are in trouble, though we cry, mourn, and struggle with worrying. God has fought and won the battle for us. We need only praise Him through all our circumstances, whatever they may be. Praise Jesus! Thanks be to God for His Holy Spirit who causes us to remember His promises. Beloved, let us press-in and keep standing on the promises of God. Jesus said: “The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” (John‬ ‭12:31-32‬ ‭NLT‬‬)
